The Rosette Nebula is located between the Monoceros constellation and the Orion constellation in the Milky Way Galaxy. The nebula lies at a distance of 5,000 light-years from Earth and measure roughly 130 light years in diameter. The mass of the nebula is estimated to be around 10,000 solar masses.
This image is a composite(stacked image) of over 130 images taken on the evening of Feb 12, 2024. Each image was taken at ISO 800 for 64 seconds at f4.0 using a Sony RX10 M4 with a LIPO filter on an iOptron SkyGuider Equitorial Mount and tripod. Photographer’s note: the size of the stars were reduced to emphasize the nebula.
